The UAE shooter Khalid Al Kaabi finished 7th in the overall ranking of 22 shooters in Double Trap competitions. He was in need of two skates score to qualify to the finals as he scored 134 whereas 3 shooters tied in 135 score and the shoot-off resulted in qualifying the Kuwaiti Fuhaid Al Daihani who went on to win the Double Trap Gold Medal. The ISSF endorsed the 7th ranking of our shooter and credited him as an Olympic Shooter, a title granted to the top 8 shooters in each event.

The rainy and windy weather conditions have had their negative impact on all shooters. Though Al Kaabi coped well and scored 27 & 28 points in the first two rounds respectively, the dense cloud & gusty winds impeded his eyesight and scored only 25 points in the third & fourth rounds, but he rebounded to score 29 points in the final round. A perfect score would have landed him in the shoot-off round.

Al Kaabi was satisfied with his results in his Olympic Games debut though he was aspiring to enter the finals. He cited the tough weather conditions which have impacted his performance in the third and fourth rounds, adding that he couldn’t cope with such climatic conditions.
